Matthew Scott is a student of Dr. Carol Leone at the Meadows School of the Arts, SMU Dallas. He began formal piano training at age four with Christina Kim and further developed his skills with Konstantyn Travinskyy, DSO pianist Gabriel Sanchez, and through master classes with Vladimir Viardo, Dang Thai Son, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Joyce Yang, Anton Nel, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Gabriel Kwok, Mikhail Voskresensky, and other distinguished musicians. He has received improvisation and jazz training from Grammy Award Winner Scott Tixier, and composition skills have developed under the instruction of Dr. Jon Cziner and Arseniy Gusev.

Notable awards include: 1st Prize, 2018 Steinway Junior Piano; Grand Prize, 2019 Carmel Klavier International Piano; 1st Place, 2021 Dallas Piano Solo; Grand Prize, 2022 Piano League International; Gold Medal, 2022 Seattle International Piano; Winner, 2023 State of Texas MTNA; Winner, 2024 South Central Division MTNA; Finalist, 2024 National MTNA; 2024 National YoungArts Winner, Classical Piano; 2024, Texas Commission on the Arts Young Master Grant Recipient; Grand Prize, 2025 Vernell Gregg Young Artist Concerto Competition. Matthew is a Young Steinway Artist.

Matthew made his orchestral debut with the Fort Worth Symphony in June 2021, conducted by Miguel Harth Bedoya. He soloed with the Las Colinas Symphony in June 2022 in the Van Cliburn Concert Hall under the baton of Geoffrey Simon. Most recently, he shared Beethoven Concerto 3 with the Lewisville Lake Symphony, conducted by Maestro Adron Ming.

To further develop his musicianship, Matthew has attended the PianoTexas and Oberlin Piano festivals since 2020. He was featured on NPR’s From the Top program in 2025.

With a dedication to collaboration, Matthew has been a member of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, GDYO Wind Symphony, Chamber Music International Youth Ambassadors, a founding member of Youth Jazz International, and has developed music sets with various churches. He regularly collaborates with chamber groups, in competitions and recitals, and shares music at senior centers across Texas.

Matthew is pursuing a degree in Piano Performance at the Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University.
